Cathedral of Flames *Possible Spoilers*
After completing the Cathedral of Flames, I received an Exquisite Surmia Carving. I currently have no clue what it is for. If I had to guess, I'd say it looks very much like a polymock piece, and it looks like a titan. Any thoughts on this?

I was wondering about that too. I beat it with a guildie and we both got one. Did everyone on your team get one? I thought it might be some kind of quest item, but if it is I haven't found anyone who wants it.

Just finished that myself with three guildies. We all got one. Very curious to know what it's for! I'll keep looking!

I got one also, also don't know what to do with it. It dropped from the chest. I think it has something to do with the Temple of the Damned quest that you get from Gron Fierceclaw. The dialog box for that quest says something about Burntsoul having a pile of treasure in the dungeon that he got from pillaging in Ascalon "from the ruins" (i.e. Surmia?). One of the items in the quest log is "Find a relic and return it to Gron Fierceclaw." After I came back to the outpost and spoke with him, that item shows as completed in the quest log, but he didn't take the piece.
So if it has a use other than to complete that quest, I don't know it. I was planning on re-doing that dungeon today. If I find out anything interesting, I'll post again.

As Fionn said, I believe it's just a quest item for that particular dungeon however it might be a bug in that the Charr doesn't actually take the item. Probably similar to Althea's Ashes.
If you could complete the quest with just the artifact, I bet you could sell them :P.
If anyone does find out they have a use, please post so. I am hoping to delete mine to save space >_>

It is used for the quest he gives. I had it in my inventory and I did the dungeon over again, when I killed final boss the quest was complete. Now I have 2 of them
